Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is a talking therapy suitable for adults and children (over 5) who are experiencing anxiety (including worry, OCD, social phobia, Generalised Anxiety Disorder, separation anxiety), low mood and depression and phobias. Typically delivered over 6-12, 1 hour sessions, this is a short-term evidence based treatment that explores the link between how we think, feel and behave and provides skills for managing and adapting these when they are unhelpful.
Reflexology is a complimentary therapy based on the theory that different points on the feet correspond to different parts of the body. The treatment aims to help the body to restore its balance naturally. Gentle pressure is applied to the foot and lower leg, which is generally experienced as relaxing. The treatment is tailored to your individual needs, based on a discussion of your medical history and aims of treatment.
Benefits include an increase in relaxation, less stress and overall wellbeing.
Reflexology for Fertility
The theory of reflexology is that the organs, nerves, glands and parts of the body are connected to reflex areas on the feet. Reflexology encourages the body's own healing process and helps to create a balance in the physical and emotional body, helping to induce a deep relaxation.
When people try to conceive there may be an emotional 'blockage' such as termination previously, fear of childbirth or fear of the unknown. Difficulties in conceiving can be very stressful and upsetting for couples. 1 in 3 women will have difficulty in conceiving, with 1 in 6 of these seeking medical help with conception.
There are many causes for infertility and reflexology may help where problems are linked to stress, anxiety or hormonal imbalances.
Mindfulness is defined as paying attention to the present moment, on purpose, in a non-judgemental way. Mindfulness is a way of training the mind to be present. Cultivating mindfulness results in greater self-awareness, and enables us to become more joyful, more empathic, and more resilient. We can learn to respond with greater wisdom and flexibility to difficult emotions and experiences, and learn to live with greater happiness and vitality.
